a kiss could’ve killed me

The First Kiss Project is along the lines of all the other user submitted sites- Post Secret, Miranda July’s Learning to Love You More and the never really got off the ground Female Sex Project.

But oh first kisses. In some way I feel like they are more exciting and more memorable than your first time. So after the jump:

-I will give you my non romantic and non exciting story that took place in front of a Kmart.

I was 14, he was 17 and his name was Eric K. We met at a friends 14th birthday party- he was the lead singer of the Metallica cover band that played (I am serious!) . Since he was so much older than me and I was not really allowed to date- especially someone in who went to Verdugo Hills HIgh, we talked on the phone. Sometimes we would plan for him to skate by my house when I happened to be in the yard and we would talk at the fence. If you stood in the middle of my street you could see two blocks down and across Foothill Blvd to the Kmart parking lot to the spot that they skated the curb. On one occasion I was able to convince my parents that I wanted to go to Kmart by myself and somehow they were ok with it (which is weird cause I was not allowed to do much). So here I am, 14, hanging out in front of Kmart with a bunch of dirty 17 year old skaters. And since I was his “girlfriend” the proper thing to do to consummate the relationship I guess was to kiss. He of course had pretty much been having sex for years, but I for some reason didn’t even see the kiss coming. All of a sudden his tongue was in my mouth and I had no idea what to do. It was the grossest thing I had ever experienced and I think had my very first panic attack. Afterwards he gave me half of a Metallica guitar pick he caught at a show to wear as a necklace, he of course wore the other half. But the weird part is that the first kiss scared me so bad and made me so upset that I did not do it again for about 2 years- though was ok with doing almost everything else. I had a “almost everything but kissing” rule. Yeah, I know, sorta weird. But! I still have his high school ID somewhere though have no idea about the 1/2 guitar pick.
