curse of palatine

I have this affinity for textured art/craft. I’ve always had a thing for collage and I like things that have depth - maybe it’s the “ooh soft…lemme touch” phenomenon, but I just go with it.
I came across these (after the cut below) pieces by Annie Aube via the blog of Jenny Hart of Sublime Stiching.
Based [...]

Our ongoing saga with Wordpress pseudo censorship has gotten me thinking a lot about art and what makes something art and how bad art can exist in the world and be appreciated by someone somewhere. I’m not really skilled at art criticism, I just like what I like.
Via Notcot.org (a recent obsession) I found this [...]

I have never dated anyone I met online, but I am seriously fascinated with the process. I’ve asked mr. secondlastwish if I could join an online dating service just to see who I meet. It kind of has the same appeal to me as online personality tests and horoscopes. This is also part of a [...]

green porno

His work is somewhat simple and seamless, and other times crazy over the top, but never too much like a modern version of [...]

abortion art

I can’t help but comment on this story that is making the rounds. Aliza Schvarts is this Yale student who apparently inseminated herself to get pregnant, then induced abortion and was using the abortion products to make some kind of bloody art project. Then she wasn’t. Then maybe she was.

Jezebel lays it out here. My [...]

art star

“It’s a mad house, this modern life…” (Because I have been looking for an excuse to tie in the yeah yeah yeahs to this blog until I do my hootchi cootchi breakdown of how awesome they are, ((speaking for myself I think they are THE hootchi cootchi soundtrack if there ever was one) ):
Oh modern [...]

I actually like art too! And photography! I’m just not a finger on the pulse of the art world kind of girl (although, Harmony Korine’s book comes out today, thanks Arkitip). I like random stuff as I come across it, and Deanna Templeton is a fine example of a local gal making fine art. She [...]

in the bathroom

I ran across these beautiful paintings by Texas born-London living artist Cynthia Westwood. She just released a book of nudes in the bathroom…wow. They are beautiful and incredibly photo realistic.

See more tasteful but maybe nsfw images after the jump or at her website above.
